Although I’m fairly new here, I’d love to help in any way I can.

It would be a pleasure to help out with the formation of a fan club — “unofficial” status notwithstanding! In fact, I’m already doing a wee bit to promote our heroes.

For example, I wear one of my FotC tees (”Eat, Sleep, Folk” or “Jemainiac”) from time to time when I go places around the City. I’m sure there must be other Noo Yawkers with FotC tees, but I haven’t seen any yet — so it may still be unusual enough to attract some notice. (Then again, I generally try to ignore people who stare at my chest…. )

Also, I volunteer every Monday at a small NYC museum where one of our curators is a Flightfan and has stocked our freebie rack with FotC promotional postcards. When we have Monday visitors, I’m usually the one who gives them an informal mini-tour of the museum, so when I show ‘em the freebie rack, I point to the postcards and say with a grin that I’ve “just gotta do a little plug for my boys from New Zealand.” I don’t know if the curator’s ever seen me doing that, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind….

In addition, I have formed a group on Yahoo called NYConchords, for Flightfans in or around the Big Apple. So far we have just 15 members, but we’re growing little by little. I’ve linked NYConchords to the NYC FotC Appreciation Group on Facebook (run by the wonderful Christopher Loh — a bona fide Kiwi!), and we plan to arrange a joint post-season party in Manhattan for both groups sometime in early September.
