I’m not in panic mode just yet, but according to Reuters and MovieWeb, “John From Cincinnati” has been cancelled and the fate of “Flight of the Conchords” is still up in the air. This is baffling to say the least, I know the ratings haven’t been Soprano’s high but I see FotC and HBO forging a new frontier in marketing and changing way we watch tv. What is the goal of a tv network? To bring in the ratings or bring in the money? Or is it the same thing? In any case, I’m ready to start my campaign for season two if necessary, I was thinking..sending HBO tons of “business socks?” ![]()

I’m in! I’ll start collecting business socks immediately. Who shall I send them to?
I already sent HBO an email saying how delightful the Conchords are and if they didn’t keep them on the air a giant green jelly-bean-crying-racist dragon will fly into their rooms at night and burn them while screaming at them rather racistly
…not to mention the robotic invasion of 2007 if they don’t bring our boys back for a second season.
Over time, we grew pissed
at the HBO mutha uckas.

made a big Conchord ruckus.
Their programming directors will determine that the most efficient answer is to NOT shut their Jams-kicking ucking system down.

Yeah, I left a comment on the MovieWeb site. I think more of us should.
John from Cincinnati is a great show, guess HBO wants us to dumb down to the MTV level and have them chose what we like and don’t like, force-feed us what they try to sell, not what we want to buy. I don’t feel good about FOTC for HBO. I do not think the guys should give up though. They should try Showtime if they get canceled by HBO. They (Showtime)are starting to look more progressive anyway.
OK - I just sent my message. (It’s pasted below.) Let’s hope they have a heart at HBO.
Why is it that every time I fall in love, the object of my affection is taken from me?
First, it was a dude named Louie. He was lucky; I was not. He’s gone now.
Then there was the Fisher brothers. They ran a funeral home. Now they’re gone too.
Then I fell for a guy named Tony. He may or may not be gone now (depending on how you interpret that last scene), but his series definitely is.
I rebounded from the whole Tony thing with a guy named John. Like me, he was from Cincinnati. Unlike me, he’s also gone now.
Which leaves two amazingly talented kiwis named Bret and Jemaine. They are the Flight of the Conchords - by far the most original, hilariously entertaining show on television. Not only do I plan my Sundays around the show, but I’ve watched my TiVo’ed versions of each episode at least a dozen times.
Mr. or Ms. HBO programming decisionmaker, I am begging you. Please, please, PLEASE do not take this away from me. I know that TV is all about the numbers, but you’ve got to give a show like FoTC a little time to grow on people before you just kill it. And besides, a lot of people I know are watching the show - just not Sunday nights on HBO. You’re breaking new ground with this show, and I’d hate to see it go. Give our boys some room to grow, please.
If not for me, then do it for Mel. She would be crushed if there was no second season.
Sincerely,
Chris from Cincinnati
Don’t know if any of you caught the following last night, but it kinda worried me about FOC’s fate on HBO. Here goes:
I tuned in at 12:00 a.m. PST to watch Episode 9 again. Just before the episode began, the HBO announcer said, “and now, the season finale of the HBO original series, ‘Flight of the Conchords.’” It has been my understanding that there are three episodes remaining this season.
With all the speculation after “John from Cincinnati” got the hook, I wonder if last night’s announcement was HBO’s way of letting as few people as possible know that “FOC” has suffered the same, early demise. Maybe I’m worrying unnecessarily, but it seems like all my favorite shows are cancelled after one season, or somewhere during that season.
Anyone?

If they even think about that, I’ll peel their beards off. Mutha uckas
