This episode was called Drive-By. Why? I haven’t the slightest idea. We find the boys discriminated against at the local fruit stand because of their ethnicity. Poor Bret can’t get a lousy apple and Jemaine can’t get a banana. Although, I wasn’t entirely convinced that Jemaine really wanted that banana..but that’s beside the point. We also see hapless Murray pining away for the tech support lady.. apparently he has been separated from his wife for a while..thus explaining the wedding ring on his finger. There was no Mel in this episode which is sad because I love her and I would have loved to have seen a fruit vendor having his butt kicked by the little lady…said fruit vendor played by the hilarious Aziz Ansari. I saw him at SXSW with the Conchords a couple of years ago and he was great! Go see him if you get a chance. Now what was the point of this post? Oh yeah, I LOVED this episode. Everything from Bret in the box, to the Albi animation, to the Mutha uckas song, to Murray’s Leggy Blonde song to Jessica (with the awesome copy machine animation), to Dave teaching the boys “the bird”..and finally to the dissing of the Australian embassy. Everything was great! So, hmm I guess right now it’s a tie between Mugged, Bowie and Drive By as my favorite episode. Oh and in case you didn’t notice this episode was written and directed by Taika Cohen Waititi!..yeah..uh-huh..it was…

I think it was called Drive-By because of the scene where the boys drove by on their bikes flipping the bird to the racist fruit salesman.
Good episode, I thought. I really enjoyed the mutha ucka song and the whole leggy blonde bit.
Hee! Of course. Sometimes the obvious floats right over my head.
Thanks Robo Boogie!

How do you beat “Bowie?” With “Drive By, of course!”
I don’t know if it was because Taika is so in tune with the guys that he knew exactly how to bring out their best comedic qualities, but I’ll go ahead and say that it was.
The visuals seemed more like Bret’s and Jemaine’s style. Intensely simple at times and intensely complex at others. I thought the show had the flow of a rouge wave!!
I won’t list all the stuff I laughed at because the moments are to many to list. Just let me say…
THANK YOU HBO for taking a chance on these very talented guys from New Zealand (Bret, Jemaine, Rhys and Taika). I LOVE seeing “Flight of the Conchords” all over the guide on my TV.
This was by far my favorite episode! I’m going to go out and find a box today and just sit in it for the rest of the day.
I think all of us should go and sit in a box..who is with me? No one..ok.. I’ll go alone then..
(..dragging my box off by myself..)

I sat in a box last night for two hours.
It was amazing.
I know it’s silly to mention this at this early time. BUT I think this episode should be nominated for an Emmy when that time comes around… just a thought..
