New Zealand Funny Folk Land at Comedy Central(R) the Network Television Premiere of ‘Flight of the Conchords’ Debuts Friday, June 29 at 11:30 P.M.

NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire/ — New Zealand’s foremost folk parody
duo and stars of the new hit HBO series bring their musical stylings to
COMEDY CENTRAL in the half-hour, self-titled Network Television Premiere
special, “Flight of the Conchords,” debuting Friday, June 29 at 11:30 p.m.
on COMEDY CENTRAL.
The Flight of the Conchords duo, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement,
fuse acoustic guitars and comical banter, stirring up laughs in this
all-new comedy special. Get ready for a quirky concert of original songs
such as “Jenny,” a call-and-response tune about a man and the woman who
mistakes him for the caretaker of her children. Other laugh-out-loud
ballads include “Albi (The Racist Dragon),” “Hiphopopotamus vs.
Rhymenoceros” and “She’s so hot, BOOM.” Viewers will fall out of their
chairs laughing before they can jump to their feet dancing with this
all-new half hour of comedy.
Self-proclaimed “New Zealand’s 4th most popular guitar-based digi-bongo
acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo,” Flight of the Conchords released “Folk
the World — Live Album” in 2002. Since then, McKenzie and Clement have
faced success in both comedy and music scenes across the globe. They
performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for three consecutive years, the
South by Southwest Arts Festival in Austin, Texas and the Bonnaroo Music
Festival in Tennessee. In 2005, BBC-2 broadcasted their largely improvised
radio series, “The Flight of the Conchords.” Recently their move to New
York City has been featured in their own, self-titled HBO series, which
premiered in June.
