From Oddfellows NZ International Comedy Festival ‘06

The BBC radio 2 show ‘The Flight of the Conchords’ starring Jemaine Clement, Bret Mckenzie and Rhys Darby has just picked up the Sony Bronze award for Radio comedy.

The Sony Radio Awards ceremony was held on Monday in London.

Chris Addison won the top award for radio comedy for his show The Ape That Got Lucky. The Silver award went to David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s That Mitchell & Webb Sound on Radio 4.

And the bronze went to Radio 4’s Flight Of The Conchords, described as ‘deceptively effortless comedy which draws the listener into a strangely ordinary world without apparently trying. The relaxed, uncontrived dialogue is a real breath of fresh air.’

The Flight of the Conchords are currently in L.A. writing the pilot for their H.B.O sitcom which is based on their BBC 2 radio series.

Rhys Darby is featuring in two shows for this years ODDFELLOWS New Zealand International Comedy Festival, The Everymen with Dai Henwood and his solo show :based on actual events.
