Emo’s Report from Not a Nerr Nudda

I have to profusely thank Chris for letting me re-post this report from his blog. This is a great account of last night’s show at Emo’s. It’s long but worth it. :)

Anyhow, me and Aaron and Andy and Jennifer went to Emo’s at about 7:20PM because the doors were surposed to open at 8:00PM and the show was surposed to start at 9:00PM. About 8:05PM we are standing outside of Emo’s and I’ll be damned if Bret and Jemaine don’t just walk right by us. We say “Hey, you’re you! I mean, we’re here to see you.”

And they were like “You know who we are?”

“Hell yes we know who you are. We came to see you. You’ve travelled all the way from Middle Earth to be here.” I told them (they are from New Zealand)

They laughed and talked to us a little bit more on the street and then went inside to check in. However, this New Zealander girl that was with them told us she was making a documentary for NZTV [*chris said he's not sure what channel this documentary was for --nicole] and wanted us to be in it since we were fans. We were like “uh, Hell yes”

So the club didn’t open at 8PM. We stood in line till about 9PM and one time Bret and Jemaine walked by on the other side of the street from where we were waiting, but no one recognized/knew them except for me and I waived and they were waived back. (rapport is what thats called folks)

Finally about 9PM they opened. We all went inside it was packed because they were having a rock-a-billie show in the back. While inside we talked to Jemaine a little more, then the NZTV chick came over and got us. She took us over to where Bret and Jemaine were and they got us all there and pointed 2 cameras at us and began filming us talking to Bret and Jemaine. The had a “Flight of The Conchords” mic and everything. They asked us some questions and I asked them some questions it was awesome. I got to talk to Bret about being in the “Lord of The Rings” movies. I ripped on Jemaine for the “Outback Steakhouse” commercials. I also got to talk to them about their song “Bowie” and Jemaine was wearing a “Bowie” shirt. I also asked Jemaine about the time they played “The Humans are Dead” on that New Zealand variety show. He told me that it was realy weird and that that was recorded back in like 2002. Bret also told me that they are about to work on a new real album and then they will start touring on their own.

After that my friend Andy asked them for an autograph, but the NZTV lady wanted them to do it on camera. Andy asked Jemaine to write “Andy, You kick ass” but Jemaine said he didn’t know enough about Andy to make an empirical statement like that about him. So, he wrote “Andy, Do you Know that you Kick Ass?” Then Aaron and Bret talked about how they had the same jacket. However Bret got his in London.

We then fought our way back to the front, the show didn’t start till like 10:20PM. We watched a bunch of “ok” comedians. THEN, “Flight of the Conchords”!!!!!!! they only got to play 3 songs. They played a new song then “Issues” then “THE HUMANS ARE DEAD”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was SO awesome. I got my myspace on NZTV and stuff. Only 1 other group of people got interviewed and they talked with us the whole night. It was really awesome. We drove back and I just woke up and jotted all this memory down, so sorry if I rambled.
Chris

Also, on stage it seems like Jemaine is more likely to crack up and laugh or something. But in real life Bret is much easier to make laugh. Jemaine can keep a straight face through anything. He will turn your jokes around on you because you don’t know if he got them or not. Beware LoL
